This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

There is a rhythm to church life that comes out this time of year. My parents are both Episcopalian, so this rhythm is something I, like some of you, have known all my life. Church on Sunday, Sunday school, and Wednesday night church soup/church suppers, become part of a routine of faith, family, and friendship. I am grateful for this routine.

As we approach Easter, I encourage you to take part in the offerings of the church. We have one more soup supper left - come and see. The Bible studies can be picked up from anywhere, previous attendance is not necessary.

After next week we will enter into Holy Week. On Palm Sunday we will remember Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem and then read the story of his death. On Maundy Thursday we will share an Agape Meal, and then we worship in what I consider one of the most moving services of the year. This service ends with the stripping of the altar and it leads us to Good Friday's noon service. Then our church shuts down until the Easter Vigil Saturday night. Following this Vigil is Easter Sunday, when we celebrate the resurrection, flower the flowering cross, and rejoice in Christ's love, grace, and mercy.

The rhythm of the next two weeks is beautiful. It truly has the power to change your life as it offers an opportunity to deepen your relationship with both your faith and your neighbor. I invite and encourage you to participate.

In Christ,

Mitch
